Mark V Special Operations Craft — Coming Soon

The Mark V Special Operations Craft (SOC) operated by SWCC is one of the most capable and iconic high-performance military vessels ever built. Developed for United States Naval Special Warfare, the Mark V was specifically engineered to transport Navy SEAL teams and mission-critical equipment at high speeds over long distances in open ocean conditions. Designed and built by Halter Marine, the Mark V quickly became the primary insertion and extraction platform for special operations forces, valued for its speed, reliability, and ability to operate in extreme maritime environments.

At 82 feet in length with a beam of 17.5 feet, the Mark V was constructed using an aluminum deep-V hull optimized for high-speed stability, rough water performance, and durability. The hull design allows the vessel to maintain speed and control in heavy sea conditions that would limit conventional vessels. The structure was engineered for strength and longevity, allowing the platform to withstand the stresses of sustained high-speed offshore operation.

Powering the Mark V is a twin configuration consisting of 2 MTU 12-cylinder twin-turbocharged marine diesel engines. These engines are among the most respected and proven high-performance marine diesel platforms in the world, known for their reliability, efficiency, and exceptional power output. Each engine produces substantial horsepower, delivering a combined output capable of propelling the vessel at speeds exceeding 50 knots. Power is transferred through four KaMeWa waterjet drives, providing outstanding acceleration, maneuverability, and operational flexibility.

The KaMeWa waterjet propulsion system offers several critical advantages over conventional propeller-driven systems. Waterjets allow for rapid acceleration, precise maneuvering, and safe operation in shallow water without exposed propellers or shafts. This makes the Mark V ideal for coastal operations, shallow water access, and environments where conventional propulsion systems would be vulnerable. The waterjet system also provides exceptional control, including forward, neutral, reverse, and vectored thrust steering, allowing for precise handling in both high-speed and low-speed conditions.

The Mark V was designed for extended range and sustained offshore performance, capable of operating far from shore while maintaining high cruising speeds in the 45 knot range. Its propulsion and fuel systems allow for long-distance travel without frequent refueling, making it highly effective for both military and commercial offshore applications.

Operationally, the Mark V was used for special operations missions including high-speed transport of personnel, reconnaissance, patrol, insertion and extraction operations, and maritime security. The vessel was capable of carrying a full crew along with mission personnel and equipment while maintaining exceptional performance and reliability. Its design prioritized speed, durability, and operational readiness in demanding environments.

The helm and control systems were engineered for full command over propulsion, navigation, and vessel systems, allowing operators to manage the vessel safely and effectively at all speeds. The platform’s robust construction and redundant systems ensure reliability during extended offshore use.

P45 Equipment is currently performing a comprehensive restoration of this Mark V platform. This restoration includes full mechanical inspection and servicing of the MTU twin-turbo diesel engines, inspection and maintenance of the KaMeWa waterjet propulsion systems, structural inspection of the hull and superstructure, and evaluation and restoration of onboard systems. Our goal is to return the vessel to excellent operational condition while preserving its military heritage and performance capability.

Upon completion, this Mark V will represent a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most capable and historically significant high-performance vessels ever built. These vessels are extremely limited in availability and highly sought after for private ownership, commercial applications, and specialized marine use.

This vessel will be offered for sale upon completion of restoration. Contact us for restoration updates, availability, and pre-sale opportunities.
